BVRI has provided valuation and financial advisory services in more than 500 business sale/purchase/merger transactions. These include meticulous review of relevant corporate, financial and transaction documents, confidential interviews of the buyer/seller and industry consultants, and analysis of the industry and comparable public companies. Our working knowledge and understanding of these transactions provide keen insights as to how deals are structured and the myriad of variables which impact price and value.

Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs)

BVRI works closely with other ESOP advisors and administrators, from initial feasibility analysis and/or preliminary valuation through final valuation and annual updates. Our valuations and reports meet all standards of the Department of Labor (DOL) and IRS for independence and documentation, and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. To date, BVRI appraisers have completed more than 100 initial ESOP valuations and hundreds of update valuations, none of which have been successfully challenged by the DOL or IRS.

  • Sale of ESOP stock
  • Fairness opinion

Fees for the preliminary ESOP valuation typically range from $2,000 to $4,000. Additional fees for the initial final valuation typically range from $4,000 to $8,000 (provided there are no meaningful comparable/guideline public companies). Fees for annual update valuations typically range from $2,500 to $5,000.
